A proxy pool is a managed collection of proxy IP addresses used to distribute outbound requests across many different IPs. A DIY proxy pool is built by purchasing or collecting a list of proxies and writing rotation logic into the scraping code. A managed proxy pool is provided by residential or datacenter proxy services — you connect to their gateway, and their infrastructure selects and rotates IPs from their pool automatically. Pool size matters: larger pools mean more IPs per domain, reducing the chance that any one IP gets rate-limited. Pool quality matters equally — dead or already-flagged IPs in the pool waste requests.
