Full Definition

Geo-blocking (or geofencing) is the practice of restricting access to online content based on the geographic location inferred from a visitor's IP address. Streaming services, news sites, e-commerce platforms, and government services commonly restrict certain content to specific countries due to licensing agreements, legal requirements, or regional business strategies. From a proxy perspective, geo-blocking is one of the most straightforward problems to solve: a proxy in the target country provides an IP that passes geo-checks. Geo-targeting specific proxies by country or even city is a core feature of all major residential proxy providers.
