Full Definition

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a form of business process automation where software robots (bots) replicate the actions a human would take on a computer: clicking buttons, reading and entering data in forms, copying content between applications, and following structured workflows. RPA tools like UiPath, Blue Prism, and Automation Anywhere interact with application UIs rather than APIs, making them useful when no API is available. In web contexts, RPA overlaps with browser automation. Unlike AI agents, traditional RPA bots follow fixed, pre-defined rules rather than making autonomous decisions.
