Full Definition

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard (introduced by Anthropic) that defines a unified interface for connecting AI language model applications to external tools, data sources, APIs, and services. Instead of each AI app building custom integrations for every tool, MCP defines a standard client-server protocol where tool capabilities (resources, tools, prompts) are described in a consistent schema the AI model can discover and invoke. In the proxy and scraping industry, MCP servers can expose web scraping capabilities, proxy management APIs, and data extraction tools directly to AI agents, enabling autonomous data-gathering workflows without custom glue code.
