Anonymous Proxy
A proxy that hides your real IP address from websites but still reveals that a proxy is being used.
Also known as: Distorting Proxy

Full Definition
An anonymous proxy (also called a distorting proxy in some classifications) hides your real IP address by substituting its own, so the destination website cannot identify your actual machine. However, it still sends HTTP headers like X-Forwarded-For or Via that signal to the server that the request came through a proxy. This means bot-detection systems can still flag the traffic as non-residential. Anonymous proxies are a step up from transparent proxies in terms of privacy but less stealthy than elite proxies, which strip all identifying headers entirely.
